WHY DON’T YOU...
RECYCLE?
Kerbside Food Waste Recycling and Garden/Green Waste
About 30% of the contents of your black bag or bin waste are kitchen
scraps or garden waste. If these items are in your black bag or bin they
will end up at landfill sites where they cause polluting gases as they rot
and biodegrade.
So don’t put them in your black bag or bin - RECYCLE THEM.
Food Waste Recycling
You can recycle any food waste from a household kitchen. For example,
waste from food preparation, food that has started to go off, bones, any
uneaten or left over food and food remaining on plates after meals. The
Council is also able to collect paper or cardboard that is contaminated
with food waste, such as chip shop paper, kitchen roll and pizza boxes.
Each household has been provided with two food caddies:
• A small caddy (Kitchen Caddy) to keep in your kitchen
Line your kitchen caddy with the food waste bags provided by the
Council. Once full, this should be transferred to the Food Waste Bin.
• A large caddy (Food Waste Bin) to store outside
The Food Waste Bin should also be lined with the food waste bags
provided by the Council to help keep it clean. The bin is lockable to
prevent it being opened by animals.
