The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers
disabled people independent access to
locked public toilets around the country.
Toilets fitted with National Key Scheme
(NKS) locks can now be found in
shopping centres, pubs, cafés,
department stores, bus and train
stations and many other locations in
most parts of the country.
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough
Council are part of the National Key
Scheme and are able issue Radar keys
that provide access to a large number of
public conveniences for people with
disabilities, throughout the borough. The
key is available to any disabled person
who is in receipt of the higher level of
Disability Allowance (Mobility
Component) or has a disabled parking
blue badge.
Rhondda Cynon Taf currently provides
RADAR keys free of charge at its One 4
All Centres in Treorchy, Pontypridd and
Aberdare.
Simply go to the One 4 All Centre with
proof of eligibility (confirmation of
higher level of disability living allowance
– mobility component or your blue
badge) and ask to be issued with a
RADAR key. Once you have provided
the necessary documents you will be
issued with a key free of charge and a
record will be kept that you have
received one.
The
Council
ask for
this proof
to comply
with the
guidelines
issued by
RADAR and to ensure that only
disabled people are issued with keys.
Staff will only issue a key if you provide
the proof of eligibility; this is to avoid
misuse of the system by non-disabled
people
