Being cold can lead to low mood. Keeping warm can
reduce the ‘winter blues’ so take hot drinks and food, wear
warm clothes and shoes.

‘winter blues’ can lead to
something more debilitating,
Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD). This is a type of winter
depression that affects an
estimated 7% of the population
every winter between September and April; in particular
during December, January and February. This depression is
more than and different from normal stress and sadness. For

Easy Read HealthWales is a new website that has been launched by Learning
DisabilityWales and helps people with learning disabilities and their families
find Easy Read information about health and well-being.
It is a fully accessible, bilingual site with video clips to help people find the
information they are looking for and lots of Easy Read documents on
everything from colds to cancer.There is also a helpline for people who
cannot find the information they need or are struggling to understand the
information.
The helpline number is 0808 808 1111 and is available to both English and
Welsh speakers from Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm or 10am – 4pm on

Ingredients
450g sweet potatoes peeled
and diced
1 onion chopped
1 dessertspoon mild curry paste or
powder
1½ pts vegetable stock
1 handful red lentils
1 tablespoon coriander
or parsley
Method
Put all the ingredients into a
pan, bring to the boil, and
simmer gently for 30mins
Liquidize in a food processor or
use a hand blender. Season to
taste
