Carers Rights Workshop
March 19th 2014
I would like to introduce myself as a
new member of staff. My name is Anne
Morris and I have been recently
appointed as the
Carers Measure
Coordinator
for Rhondda
Cynon Taff
County
Borough
Council and
am based in
Heddfan. The
Carers Strategies
(Wales) Measure 2010 is a new
legislative duty to provide information
and support to all carers via the
implementation of a Carers Information
Strategy.The CwmTaf (Rhondda Cynon
Taff & Merthyr Tydfil) Carers
Information and Consultation Strategy
was launched this year;
The strategy:
• Sets out how carers will be identified
• Sets out how information will be
provided to carers that will assist
them in carrying out their caring role
• Sets out how carers will be
consulted and involved in the
decisions affecting them and those
they care for
The strategy applies to people of all
ages including young carers and
recognises the vital role carers play as
our partners in care in CwmTaf. It is
my role to work with staff at all levels to
ensure that they are Carer Aware and
are able to identify and signpost Carers
to sources of support and information.
This will include presenting to teams
based within the Council and ensuring
staff complete the ‘Carer Aware’ course;
an online course aimed at raising
awareness of the needs and rights of
Carers.
If you have any questions about
the Measure you can contact me
on 01443 668814.
