Young Carers Assessment and
Development Worker can provide a
range of information and advice for
Young Carers and those who work
with Young Carers. This can include
visiting a family to carry out a Young
Carer’s Initial Assessment. All
referrals for a Young Carers service
should be sent to the Assessment and
Development Worker.

Young Carers projects supports
Young Carers aged 5-18. In Merthyr
Young Carers under 18 are supported
by Barnardos who take responsibility
for someone who is ill, disabled,
elderly, experiencing mental distress,
affected by substance misuse or has
substantial responsibility for caring
for a sibling. They hold after school
clubs, activity days and many other
activities for Young Carers.
